INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies were searching for a possible suspect after several shots were fired in an apartment parking lot following a disturbance Thursday, sheriff's officials said. No injuries were reported in the morning shooting. Indian River County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of shots fired about 9:42 a.m. at the Orchard Grove apartment complex in the 1800 block of Woodland Circle, north of the Vero Beach city limits. Witnesses heard an argument followed by what sounded like eight gunshots, said Lt. Kevin Jaworski, a spokesperson for the Indian River County Sheriff's Office. "Several individuals were seen fleeing the area," Jaworski said. Jaworski said a grey Chevrolet Malibu parked in the area was struck by the gunfire, with bullets striking the back window and driver's seat. Crime scene detectives were combing for evidence and searching for any nearby surveillance footage that might have captured the incident. "The investigation is active, and no arrests have been made at this time," Jaworski said. Those with information on the shooting can call the sheriff's office at 772-569-6700. Callers can also remain anonymous by contacting Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS or tcwatch.org. Photos by Joshua Kodis [gallery ids="234519,234520"]
