Weekend Winners – Things to do in Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — From a fishing tournament and music festival to recognition of the annual Day of Caring and a lagoon celebration, there’s plenty to see and do over the next couple days.

Friday and Saturday

  • OneSight & Capt. Hiram’s Resort Fishing Tournament. Captain’s Meeting Friday; registration from 5 – 6 p.m. and captains rules at 7 p.m. Tournament Saturday – Lines-In at 6 a.m. and Weigh-In from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday thru Sunday

  • Treasure Coast Music Festival, featuring a wide variety of music styles at the Indian River County Fairgrounds. Hours 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Saturday

  • United Way of Indian River County invites volunteers and social service agencies to sign up for its annual Day of Caring. Volunteers head out in teams to help local health and human service agencies with much needed painting, fixing, and yard work.
  • Farmer’s Market Oceanside, 8 a.m. to noon at the corner of Ocean Drive and Dahlia Lane, across from Humiston Park in Vero Beach.
  • National Estuaries Day. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Harbor Branch Oceanographic with tours and activities. Free.
  • The Visiting Nurse Association is offering a flu shot clinic from 11 a.m. to2 p.m. at VNA Hidden Treasures, 656 21st Street, Vero Beach 32960
  • Youth Funshop Exhibition – What’s The Story? 1-3 p.m. at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
  • Captain Rodney Smith will speak at the Sebastian Inlet State Park Fishing Museum from 1 to 3 p.m., sharing stories, fishing tips and advice, and sign copies of his book, Catching Made Easy and Enjoying Life on the Indian River Lagoon Coast.
  • Vero Equine is offering a Kid’s Night Out with horseback riding, dinner, bonfire, games and a movie, 5 to 10 p.m. for ages 6 and up.

Saturday and Sunday

  • Pelican Island Audubon Society needs volunteers to help to remove air potato vines on a property near ORCA (Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area) on the south side of Oslo Rd where it hopes to build its Audubon Community Center. Volunteers are needed for 2 hours from 7:30-9:30 a.m. during the cooler part of the morning.

Sunday

  • Mulligan’s Restaurant on the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian will donate 20 percent of their breakfast proceeds, 8 a.m. to Noon to the Saint Sebastian Church on U.S. 1 in Sebastian.
  • Main Street Vero Beach Sunday (Farmers) Market, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of 14th Avenue & 21st Street.
  • Free Riverside Theatre Open House, 1 to 4 p.m.; meet at the Orchid Lobby for tours of the backstage area.
  • Pointe West Wedding Fair, 2 to 5 p.m. at the Club at Pointe West, featuring entertainment by Class Act Productions, wedding experts and fashions, and a mock reception.
