Tropical Storm Ophelia forms in East Atlantic

Tropical Storm Ophelia has formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and is expected to remain a storm over the next five days.

Currently, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect and the storm is not expected to impact land until Saturday, as it approaches the Leeward Islands.

Tropical Storm Ophelia’s maximum sustained winds are 45 mph and extend out up to 175 miles. Some gradual strengthening tot the winds are possible over the next couple days.

The storm is moving west at 13 mph, a path it is forecast to stay on for the next 48 hours with some increase to forward speed.
