PET PARADE: Building trust is key

Rio is continuing to provide fun and enjoyment in our family. As with most dogs, there are some little quirks in his personality. I always say the first 30 days is the honeymoon. The dogs normal behavior is slightly suppressed. As the dog gets more comfortable, it’s natural behavior becomes more obvious.

The first time I trimmed Rio’s nails, he tolerated it with no real problem. Unfortunately, shortly after the first trim, he injured a nail on his dewclaw. It was painful and somehow transferred over to him not wanting any of his nails done. I have been working on rebuilding his trust to allow me to work on his feet again.
