Alice L. Papola, 84, died Sept. 13, 2011, at Indian River Center in West Melbourne.
She was born in Philadelphia and lived in Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Toms River, N.J.
She graduated from the School of Pharmacy, Temple University, Philadelphia in 1948, where she received the Temple University General Alumni Association Certificate for the highest general average in all subjects during the four years.
She retired in 1986 as the director of pharmacy for the Northern Ocean Hospital System Inc., which operated Brick and Point Pleasant Hospitals in New Jersey for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Toms River.
Survivors include her son, Joseph A. Papola Jr., of Little Egg Harbor, N.J.; daughters, Susan Breeding, of Seaford, Del., Carol Ewald, of Seattle and Nancy Blazewicz, of Melbourne; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Joseph A. Papola.

A Mass will be celebrated at noon Sept. 15 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
A celebration of life is planned for a later date in New Jersey.
