VERO BEACH — Tighten up your Dirndls and strap on your Lederhosen; Oktoberfest is back! The Junior League of Indian River County will host its third annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Pointe West in Vero Beach.
“This event is rapidly becoming a tradition for Treasure Coast families, as well as a kick off for the fall social season,” explained Oktoberfest Chair Amy Harwick. “It’s an inexpensive way to spend a great day with family and friends and give back to the community at the same time.”
Tickets to Oktoberfest are $5 and are available for purchase at the gate or ahead of time from Junior League members. Children 3 and under are admitted free.
Entertainment by the Bob Houston Oktoberfest Trio, authentic dancing by the Treasure Coast German/American Club, a flag parade, official keg tapping and all Kinder Garden activities – including a petting zoo, bounce house, face painting and games – are included in admission. Children are encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes.
Visitors also have the option to purchase a selection of German beer, as well as authentic German food such as knockwurst, bratwurst, strudel and potato pancakes. Cornhole games will be available on a pay-to-play basis.
The Junior League of Indian River identifies needs within the community and develops projects that address those needs. Proceeds from Oktoberfest directly support community impact projects and the Whole Child Connection, the League’s newest ground-floor initiative. More information on Whole Child can be found at www.wholechildflorida.org.
Vendor applications are still being accepted, including craft, food and non-profit booths. Sponsorships also are available.
