Race for 2 Vero Beach council seats attracts 4 candidates

VERO BEACH — The race to fill two seats on the Vero Beach City Council has attracted four candidates so far. There is less than four hours until the qualifying period ends.

City Council members Brian Heady and Tracy Carroll are facing at least two challengers for the seats at the dais.

Carroll’s one-year term seat will convert to a 2-year term seat now that she has completed the remainder of ousted Councilman Charlie Wilson’s term.

Those challenging Heady and Carroll include former City Councilman Ken Daige and Vero Beach Finance Commission member Dick Winger.

Daige ran unsuccessfully for the Vero Beach City Council in 2010 and was appointed to fill Wilson’s seat in 2009 until the 2010 election.
