Fellsmere voters to decide who will serve on City Council

FELLSMERE — For the first time since 2008, Fellsmere voters will get a chance to decide who will serve on its City Council.

Mayor Susan Adams and City Councilwoman Sara Savage will face off against at least two challengers. As of Noon Friday – with more than 4 hours left to the qualifying period, there are four candidates vying for two seats.

In 2009, Adams and Savage filed for re-election and went unopposed. In 2010, Councilmen Fernando Herrera, Daniel Naranjo and Joel Tyson also sought re-election and were unopposed.

Fellsmere residents Alberto DeLeon Jr. and John Allen Luke have decided to run against Adams and Savage.

DeLeon, of N. Bay Street, is a truck driver for BM Auto Inc., located in Fellsmere.

Luke does not have employment listed on his qualifying papers. Instead, his primary source of income is listed as Social Security.

Savage is the owner and operator of the Bait Bucket bait shop in Fellsmere and Adams runs Marsh Landing Restaurant.
