ORLANDO — Sebastian River suffered a 26-14 defeat at the hands of Orlando-Evans tonight on the road. The Trojans proudly unveiled their new $2.5 million stadium in the win after playing just one home game the year before.
Nikko Finnegan scored a 14-yard touchdown and ran in a two-point conversion to lead the Sharks in defeat. Backup quarterback Hakeem Rainey’s 43-yard touchdown pass to Johntavious Brown with 2:28 left to play was the other offensive bright spot for Sebastian river.
Sebastian River spotted Evans all 26 of its points before scoring the first of two touchdowns mid-way through the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Norris Rogers was forced to leave the game with a shoulder injury in the second quarter and never returned. His status is unknown, but losing Rogers for any extended amount of time would have a huge impact on head coach Randy Bethel’s team.
“Norris is a very talented young man, with the ability to make plays from the quarterback position,” Bethel said. “That’s what we’re banking on (for the offense), and he’s really applied himself as a leader on and off the field so far this year.”
Sebastian River plays St. Lucie West Centennial next week in their home opener, who is coming off a 26-9 loss to Merritt Island at home.
