Sheriff’s Office seeking public’s help solving auto burglaries

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate and identify the owner of a suspect vehicle involved in what authorities believe could be multiple auto burglaries.

On June 29, at approximately 11:15 a.m., the suspect/driver of the vehicle pulled alongside a woman’s vehicle at a gas station located at 2065 S. US 1 while she was pumping gas.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect exited his vehicle, opened the passenger door of the victim’s vehicle and removed her purse. He then re-entered his vehicle and left.

The vehicle is believed to be a 1993-1997 Lincoln Town Car. It is apparent that it has either a dark blue or black canvass top and is missing the passenger side front rim.

During another auto burglary, the suspect’s image was captured on a surveillance camera at about 3 a.m. on July 17. The burglary occurred at the 100 block of 32nd Court SW, Vero Beach.

“It is possible this same suspect is responsible for other auto burglaries in the area during the same time period,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 15-17 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet10, and approximately 140 pounds.
