Sebastian River falls to Melbourne at home, 43-14

SEBASTIAN — Quarterback Norris Rogers threw two touchdowns in two minutes at the end of the first quarter to account for Sebastian River’s only two scores against Melbourne High School Friday night. The Sharks lost 43-14.

Rogers found Octavia Jefferson for a five-yard touchdown pass with 2:18 left in the quarter, and then hit Shelvick Henry for a 17-yard pass to tie the game, 14-14 against Melbourne going into the second quarter.  Rogers gained 57 yards on five carries and passed for 68 yards in the first half.

The Sharks fell victim to big plays by Melbourne, an in particular long scoring plays.  The visitors scored on the Sebastian River defense from 24, 25 and 60 yards out.  Melbourne scored 29 unanswered points to close out the game.

Sebastian River travels to Orlando Evans next week for their first regular season game
