Vincent Paul Lang, 87, Vero Beach

Vincent Paul Lang, 87, died Aug. 19, 2011, at his home.

He was born in St. Paul, Minn., and lived in Vero Beach since 1998, coming from Fayetteville, N.Y., where he moved in 1954.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, where he served as radio operator.

He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Before retirement, he worked for United Technologies Carrier for 30 years, where he became director of Worldwide Product Data Systems.

He wrote the Principles of Air Conditioning, first published in 1961, and translated into 30 languages and sold around the world as a textbook for technical programs.

The book was awarded best business and technical publication in the U.S. in 1980.

He graduated from St. John’s University.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joan Therese; daughters, Lisa, of White Plains, N.Y., Mara, of McLean, Va., and Joanne, of Lexington, Ky.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his seven siblings.

A Mass will be celebrated at noon Aug. 25 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Burial with military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Columbarium, Va.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Sept. 15 at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, N.Y.
