Mary E. Walker, 96, Vero Beach

Mary E. Walker, 96, died on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, in Vero Beach.

Walker was born on Oct. 12, 1915, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of John McGuckin, of Philadelphia, and Margaret Boyce McGuckin, of Kilmallock, Ireland.

She was the last of eight siblings.

She lived with her husband and children in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Ohio until 1977.

She and her husband, Bob Walker, retired and moved to Pennsylvania and then onto Fort Pierce in 1980.

They lived on Hutchinson Island and eventually moved to Spanish Lakes Country Club Village.

She was active in golf, quilting, doll making, travelling, cards and the Irish club.

She was also an active member of Saint Anastasia Church in Fort Pierce.

She was a resident of The Place in Vero Beach for the last five years.

Her husband Bob, who was her life-long companion, predeceased her on Jan. 13, 2006.

Survivors include her children Mary M. Walker Martin, Robert Walkerr, Peter A. Walker; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

A service will be held at a later date.
