James Newton Sr., 93, died Aug. 16, 2011, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in Puerto Rico and lived in Vero Beach for 33 years, coming from Howard Beach, N.Y.
He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Carlene Newton, of Vero Beach; sons, Robert Newton, of North Port, James Newton Jr., of Vero Beach, William Newton, of Howard Beach, Dennis Newton, of Ozone Park, N.Y., Douglas Newton, of Pompano Beach and Glenn Newton, of Salem, Mass.; daughter, Alicia Brooker, of Southwest Ranches; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at All County Funeral Home and Crematory Treasure Coast Chapel in Stuart with a memorial tribute and video presentation at noon.
