South County man accused of having 2 wives

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A south Indian River County man has been arrested, accused of having more than one wife.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested Aaron Richardson, 66, of the 2100 block of 18th Ave. SW, Vero Beach, Aug. 16. He has since been released from the county jail on $1,000 bond.

He faces one felony charge of bigamy.

The issue of multiple wives came up when Richardson brought forward a domestic violence injunction against his first wife, Irene Clark, whom he doesn’t remember marrying.

As part of the evidence heard in court, Clark presented a copy of their marriage license, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Judge Paul Kanarek, who presided over the hearing, searched court records and found a dissolution of marriage filed by another woman, Arkina Sneed.

That dissolution, however, had been dismissed, meaning Richardson was married to both women at the same time.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Richardson married Clark in 2004, though he told investigators that he does not remember marrying her. Clark told investigators that they had gotten married and were living together as recently as this year.

Richardson told investigators he could remember marrying Sneed at the Indian River County Courthouse in October 2010.

Sneed told investigators that had she known Richardson was already married, she wouldn’t have married him, the Sheriff’s Office said.
