William J. Fried, 88, died Aug. 10, 2011, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in New York City and lived in Vero Beach for 23 years, coming from Westbury, N.Y.
Before retirement, he owned and operated Skyviews Survey and was responsible for documenting the growth of New York City through aerial photography from 1945 to 1980.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa fraternity.
Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Troske and Laurie Hebditch, both of Princeton, N.J.; sister, Betty Blanco, of Vero Beach; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Alice Fried.
