Marie “Chickie” Mulvey Anderson , 85, of Vero Beach, died Aug. 9, 2011, at the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
Born Sept. 3, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Vero Beach for the past 36 years, coming from Nanuet, N.Y.
She attended St. Angela Hall Grammar School, Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a graduate of St. Angela Hall High School, Brooklyn, N.Y.
She followed her beloved Dodgers to Vero Beach and continued to support them throughout her life.
Chickie was part of the Mulvey family, who were part owners of the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1912 to 1975.
She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
She also was a member of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and worked on the Diocese Services Appeal, formerly the Bishop’s Appeal.
She was a member of the Exchange Club of Indian River County, the Irish American Club, Vero Beach, the Sierra Club and the Vero Beach Yacht Club.
Chickie volunteered many hours for the Vero Beach Youth Center, Health and Family Services and many other organizations.
Survivors include her son, George W. Anderson, Jr., of Vero Beach and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie A. Teemley.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
