Fellsmere man, 67, accused of molesting girl, 13

FELLSMERE — A Fellsmere man has been released from the county jail on bond after his arrest on a charge of sexual battery of a 13-year-old girl.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested Minor J. Platt, 67, on Aug. 6, after the girl told relatives about the incident.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the man and the girl were sitting in an oversized chair watching TV when she got cold and grabbed a blanket. Platt, according to the girl, asked her to share the blanket and once they were both under it, he touched her inappropriately.

He then asked her if she liked it, she told investigators, to which she replied ‘no’ and left the room to tell a family member.

The next day, the girl and the family member told Platt’s wife and the authorities were notified.

Platt was arrested and booked into the jail where he was released on $50,000 bond.
