Lacy Harding Milam, 89, Sebastian

Lacy Harding Milam, 89, died July 29, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in Montcoal, W.Va., and lived in Sebastian for 36 years, coming from Queens, N.Y.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He served for 20 years, retiring in 1962.

He worked as a barber in New York and at Piper Aircraft as an assembler.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10210 and American Legion Post 189, both in Sebastian.

He was an active member of the Sebastian Area Veterans Honor Guard, serving for 34 years.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gloria Butler Milam, of Sebastian; son, John Harding Milam, of West New York, N.J.; sisters, Eileen Cole, of Naomi, W. Va., and Mary Jordan, of Charleston, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Minnie Abbott.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 2 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, with military honors conducted at 7 p.m. by the Sebastian Area Veterans Honor Guard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Aug. 3 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.

Burial will be at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay.
