Milton Rhoda “Billy” Crandall, 98, Vero Beach

Milton Rhoda “Billy” Crandall, 98, died July 23, 2011, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He was born in Berwyn, Md., and moved to Vero Beach from Atlanta.

Before retirement in 1970, he was employed by the federal government.

During World War II, he worked at the Naval Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Va.

Survivors include his daughters, Jean Marie Stephenson, of Georgia, Joni Hendrick, of California and Vero Beach, and Diane McClunk, of Vero Beach; son, Milton Crandall Jr., of Roanoke, Va.; caregiver/nephew, J. Emory Crandall; sisters, Louise Bare and Betty Forman; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Lena Bilyard; sisters, Mable Smarr and Edna Stewart; and brother, Jack Crandell.

A celebration of life will be at 8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Vero Beach Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Arrangements are by the Neptune Society.
