Clifford Henry Coughlin, 89, died July 14, 2011, at his home.
He was born in Albany, N.Y., and lived in Sebastian for 28 years, coming from Louisville, Ky.
Before retirement, he was employed as an engineer for 43 years with GE: EDO Manufacturing Technology and Equipment Development operation in the Mechanical Division.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he completed the Aviation Machinists Mate School in Dearborn, Mich., in April 1943.
He spent some time aboard the USS Boxer.
He was a member of Sebastian United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Vero Beach.
He was a member of the Kentucky Colonels and was awarded this designation May 16, 1978, in the 186th year of Kentucky.
He was awarded the Distinguished Citizen Award by the mayor of Louisville on Sept. 28, 1978.
He was a Master Mason and a member of the Wadsworth Lodge 417 in New York.
In 2005, he was awarded for 55 years of dedication and support of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ethel Z. Coughlin, of Sebastian; sons, James “Jim” T. Coughlin, of Vero Beach and Clifford W. Coughlin, of Sebastian; sister, Delores Garry, of Albany, N.Y.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Coughlin.
