Teen Art Show winners announced

SEBASTIAN — Winners of the Fourth Annual Teen Art Show at the North Indian River County Library were announced on July 13, 2011. Judging was done by local artist Patricia Harsch who praised the quality of this year’s entries.

Stephanie Philippe won first place in the 15 to18-year-old category, with Courtney Lechner taking runner-up in the same age group.

Carly Christenson was awarded first place in the 12 to 14-year old category, with Marianna Mars taking second place in the same age group.

Prizes for the winners were provided by the Friends of the North Indian River County Library.

Thanks to all of the artists who participated in the show. All of the entries will be on display in the Library throughout the month of July.

The Library is located at 1001 Sebastian Boulevard, three miles west of U.S. 1 in Sebastian.

Winners of the Fifth Annual Teen Photo Contest announced

SEBASTIAN -- This year local teens entered 58 photographs in the North Indian River County Library's fifth annual "Teen Photography Contest." Local art enthusiast and photographer, Hank Buchanan, judged the contest and was pleased to see how the contest had grown since the last time he judged it three years ago. Having so many wonderful entries made the judging even more difficult. Molly Fitzpatrick was awarded first place in the "People" category with Ashley Fuller taking runner-up. Kristen Redner was awarded first place in the "Landscape" category with Alex Smith taking runner-up. McDonald’s Reading Challenge comes to North County Library

SEBASTIAN -- Ronald McDonald will present a program at the North Indian River County Library on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m., to encourage children to visit their local library. Children who sign up for a library card or show a valid library card during September, which is Library Card Sign-up Month, will be entered in the Library Prize Drawing.
