GIFFORD – A pedestrian in Gifford was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver overnight Friday, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was walking in the westbound lane of 49th Street, west of 35th Avenue, when an unknown vehicle struck the person and left the scene.
The pedestrian was left lying in the lane and at an unknown time later, a second vehicle was unable to avoid the pedestrian and also struck the person, FHP said.
That driver proceeded to turn around and stopped on the lane of 49th Street.
