Harold D. Doyle, 87, died on June 14, 2011, at his home in Vero Beach.
Born in Hemlock, Mich., he had been a resident of Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Dallas, Texas and Saginaw, Mich.
A nationally recognized trucking expert, his career encompassed more than 50 years and six transportation companies.
His most recent position was president and CEO of PIE NATIONWIDE, head-quartered in Jacksonville, FL.
Serving in many industry positions throughout his distinguished career, Doyle was president of the Michigan Trucking Association and vice president of the American Trucking Assn.
As elder and trustee, he served Countryside Presbyterian Church in Saginaw, Mich., and First Presbyterian Church in Vero Beach.
In his retirement years, Doyle volunteered with the Indian River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, at the reception desk with over 600 hours of service.
Doyle served his country during World War II in the 65th Infantry, U.S. Army, earning a Combat Infantry Badge and two Battle Stars.
Doyle was preceeded in death by his wife of 62 years by 9 days. Susanne J. Doyle died peacefully at home on June 6, 2011.
Survivors include three sons, Michael S. Doyle, of Sarasota, James M. Doyle, of Escondido, Calif., and Douglas H. Doyle, of Wilson, Wyo.; two daughters, Christine Doyle Eagle, of Charlotte, N.C., and Susanne K. Doyle, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
The family will gather in Vero Beach, FL. for a private celebration.
In addition, a service & interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
