James Peter De Grote, 82, of Vero Beach, died June 28, 2011, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Born in Clara City, Minn., he had been a resident of Vero Beach for 34 years, coming from Willmar, Minn.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Prior to his retirement, he was a property appraiser with the Indian River County Property Appraiser’s Office.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vero Beach, and also a member of the Elks Lodge #1774 in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce De Grote, of Vero Beach; and three sisters, Phyllis Pedri, of Georgetown, Calif., Shirley Donner, of Stillwater, Minn., and Gayle Holm, of Scottsdale, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., July 5, 2011 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.
