Summerfest 2011 Concert to include Meet the Artists social

VERO BEACH — The Cultural Council of Indian River County is pleased to sponsor the internationally acclaimed Symphony of the Americas at a Summer Concert for the community to be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28 at Trinity Episcopal Church. A pre-concert “Meet the Artists” social will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the Trinity Episcopal Great Hall. Light refreshments will be served.

The performance will feature the Remenyi Ede Chamber Ensemble from northern Hungary and the works of Vivaldi, Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Violinist Laszlo Pap, a graduate of the renowned Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, will also be featured. The Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra is a familiar name in Europe, the Far East and the USA. It often participates in concert with the famed Boys Choir of Zurich.

The 90-minute concert program will feature the Concerto for Four Violins, Cello and Strings by Antonio Vivaldi, the Divertimento in D by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the “Elegie” from the Serenade for Strings, Opus 48 by Tchaikovsky, the hauntingly beautiful “Meditation from Thais”, and Argentine tangos of Piazzolla. The program concludes with the guest artists performing Divertimento No. 1, by composer Leo Weiner, who captures the unique sounds of his Hungarian homeland in this exciting work.

Maestro of South Florida’s acclaimed Symphony of the Americas and founder of Summerfest is Trinity Episcopal Church. Summerfest, Florida’s longest running music festival, joins members of a world class European chamber orchestra with the Symphony in an annual cultural exchange program. The tour includes over 25 performances and educational outreach activities, stretching from the visiting orchestra’s home county to Florida, Central and South America. Maestro’s goal is for diverse audiences, especially young people, to experience the superior artistry of the Symphony of the Americas.

Concert-goers will enjoy an extraordinary opportunity to converse with the program artists prior to the performance. The “Meet the Artists” social will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the Trinity Episcopal Great Hall. Light refreshments will be served.

The Summer Concert is a fundraiser for the 16-year old Cultural Council of Indian River County who joins co-host Trinity Episcopal Church in welcoming the Symphony of the Americas back to Vero Beach after a 3 year absence. As the designated Local Arts Agency, CCIRC works to enrich the quality of life for all residents and visitors by supporting and promoting the arts and cultural events as vital assets in our community.
