INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at FAU Ocean Science Lecture Series presents “Oyster Restoration on the Treasure Coast,” with Vincent Encomio, Ph.D., who leads the oyster restoration project at Florida Oceanographic Society, on Wednesday, July 20.
Oysters are a well-known delicacy, but they are also ecologically important. They serve as filters that clean the water in estuaries, such as the Indian River Lagoon. Oyster reef restoration is vital to the health and quality of our coastal waterways. Learn about current oyster restoration efforts and St. Lucie River restoration.
The lecture begins at 7 and is open to the public. It is free of charge and reservations are not required.
