John M. Lopes, 82, died June 23, 2011, at Sebastian River Medical Center.
He was born in Erie, Pa., and lived in Sebastian since 2005, coming from Fort Pierce, where he lived since 1951.
Before retiring, he was a salesman for Apperson Chemical Co. and a salesman for 14 years for Discount Furniture Co., both of Fort Pierce.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Glover Lopes, of Sebastian; son, Michael S. Lopes, of Coconut Creek; and sisters, Janet Felix, of Vero Beach and Marian Matthews, of Fort Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Lopes and Bill Lopes; and sister, Joann Breese.
