I-95 through Vero Beach reopens after 150-acre fire’s smoke clogs road

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Three fires along the Treasure Coast, including a 150-acre fire along Interstate 95 near mile marker 150 temporarily shut down the highway due to heavy smoke.

The highway has since reopened, though drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area as firefighters continue to battle the blaze.

Another fire, about 10 acres, is ablaze in the area of 98th Street. A cross-street was not given.

Indian River County, along with most of the rest of Florida, remains under threat of brush- and wildfires due to drought conditions.
