John Struthers Dunn, Jr., 82, was born March 3, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pa., and died May 28, 2011, of respiratory failure at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne.
He lived in Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from Moorestown, N.J.
He graduated from Germantown Friends School, and received bachelor’s degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Pennsylvania.
He was president and CEO of Struthers-Dunn, Inc. of Pitman, N.J., a manufacturer of electrical components used in the auto, defense, and aviation industries.
He served on the Boards of the Davidson School of Media, PA, and the Children’s Seashore House.
He was a member of the Racquet Club of Philadelphia, and the Moorings Club and Community Church both of Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Judy; daughter Elizabeth Ross, of Washington, D.C.; four sons Robert II, of Mickleton, N.J., Gerritt, of Denver, Colo., David, of Fullerton, Calif., and Jonathan, of San Diego, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His sister, Marguerite Scott, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the music department of the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd Street, Vero Beach, FL. 32960.
There will be a memorial service in the Grace Chapel of the Community Church on Saturday, June 17, 2011 at 11 a.m.
A reception will follow immediately at the Clubhouse of the Racquet Club a 3939 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach.
