Indian River Estates to celebrate 25th Anniversary

VERO BEACH — On Tuesday, May 24 at 4:30 pm, Indian River Estates East will celebrate its 25th year of providing housing, services and care to seniors in Vero Beach. There are currently 14 pioneer residents who moved in when the retirement campus first opened back in 1986, underscoring the value of a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) and the unique availability of multiple residential options and levels of health care located on the same campus.

Indian River Estates, an ACTS Retirement-Life Community, is the only not-for-profit fully accredited CCRC in Indian River County, having received the senior industry’s mark of excellence for services, care and financial stability. Indian River is currently undergoing the county’s largest construction project – an estimated $28 million dollar facelift to its WillowBrooke Court Skilled Care Center.

The new WillowBrooke Court at Indian River Estates will be two stories and feature six households which will each have its own country kitchen, entertainment area and resident-centered care. Each suite will have a lake or garden view, a choice of three designer-inspired color and furniture themes, flat screen TVs, fireplaces, bathing spas and wireless internet.

Residents have to date contributed more than $4 million to the project, which is expected to be completed later this year.

Residents at Indian River Estates range from their early sixties to well past the century mark and are known for staying active. Many residents still work part-time and volunteer throughout the area.

The retirement community also employs close to 300 full and part-time workers, and will honor Wendy Bushong, director of resident services, as one of the community’s original staff members.

Professional groups, particularly those focused on older adults, are encouraged to contact this 25-year-old Indian River landmark for opportunities to host meetings and social events.

Located at 2250 Indian Creek Boulevard West off Route 60, Indian River Estates is home to more than 300 seniors.
