Marvin R. Chaffee, 79, of Vero Beach, died on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at VNA Hospice House.
He had been a resident at the Arbors at Pointe West since January of 2011.
He was born July 25, 1931, in Jacksonville, N.Y., the son of Theodore and Opal Chaffee.
Chaffee was a proud Marine who served his country.
His career as a meat cutter started at The Market Basket in Ithaca, N.Y in 1950, and then he worked for P & C Markets in New York State until 1979.
He moved to Florida and remained a meat cutter until his retirement from Publix Supermarket in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; children, Marvin R. Chaffee, Jr. (Paul), of Honolulu, Hawaii, William (Jennifer) Chaffee, of Port St. Lucie, Nancy (Jerry) Rea, of Vero Beach, John (Cathy) Chaffee, of Lakeland and Susan (Nayden) Kolev, of Pompano Beach; siblings, Hazel LaFavor, Edith Yaple, Ruth Chase, Grace Gunn, George Chaffee, John Chaffee, David Chaffee and Albert Chaffee; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Chaffee was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Betty June, Theodore, Jean, Connie and Joann.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, June 24th at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home.
There will be a private inurnment with full military honors at South Florida Nation Cemetery, Lake Worth.
