VERO BEACH — The annual Dance Space Spectacular show will be held at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 11, with performances at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dance styles performed will include Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, and Hip Hop.
As a Broadway dancer, Andrew Currie, owner and Master Instructor of Dance Space, has performed in “Cats,” “Miss Saigon,” “Starlight Express,” “La Cage Aux Folles” and other productions. He also performed as a back-up dancer for Grace Jones and Angela Lansbury. Dance Space is a member of the Cultural Council of Indian River County and the Sebastian Chamber of Commerce.
More than 225 students will participate in this production, which began its rehearsals many months ago. The rehearsal process is a tremendous growth experience for students, developing improved retention skills, and learning the benefits of working as a team.
An essential element of the dance training process includes learning through performance, which helps build self-esteem, self-assurance and contributes to a sense of confidence. Performance opportunities can also contribute to children’s success in non-dance activities, such as better in-school presentations and improved social skills that can enhance interview skills for future college or job opportunities.
The “Dance Space Spectacular” show offers students a professionally directed performance and allows them to present to their friends and families the results of a year’s hard work, dedication and progress.
Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door. All seating is reserved.
