Vero Beach to get a patriotic ‘Brass Blast’

VERO BEACH – The Brevard based Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will present “Brass Blast:  A Patriotic Showcase,” a free concert at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 at the Emerson Center in Vero Beach.

Conductor Aaron Collins will lead the twenty-piece brass & percussion ensemble in a concert that will celebrate America and showcase the brass section of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra.  The concert will be presented in “Sousa style” and will boast a variety of American works, including Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man & Buckaroo Holiday, John Williams’ Summon the Heroes, Richard Rodgers’ Victory at Sea, marches from Sousa and Fillmore, and music from Glenn Miller.

The concert is free and open to all.

“What better way to celebrate our men and women of the Armed forces than a patriotic concert featuring some of the finest brass players in Florida” said Collins.

The Space Coast Symphony will bring Summer Season programs to Vero Beach in June, July and August.

Ticket packages for the Summer Season and the entire 2011-2012 Season are available for purchase on the Space Coast Symphony website.

The seventy piece orchestra will present Latin Fiesta! at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5 at the Community Church of Vero Beach.
