VERO BEACH — The Senior Resource Association (SRA) is holding its fourth annual Freedom 5K Run and Walk on Monday, May 30 at Riverside Park in Vero Beach.
Registration begins at 6 a.m. and the event starts at 7 a.m. on the north side of the Park near the Large Pavilion. New this year is a One-Mile Fun Run – great for kids and beginners. Refreshments and snacks will be available for all participants. There will also be live entertainment provided by Christian FM along with activities for children.
Awards will be presented for top runners in each of age categories: Runners – (9 & under) (10 – 14) (15 – 19) (20 – 24) (25 – 29) (30 -34) (35 – 39) (40 – 44) (45 – 49) (50 – 54) (55 – 59) (60 – 64) (65 – 69) (70 & over) and to the top three finishers in the Walk.
The entry fee for the 5K is $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. The entry fee for the 1 Mile is $10 for ages 13 and up and $5 for ages 12 and under.
The first 150 5K participants to register will receive a t-shirt and race bag.
“All proceeds from our annual 5K race and walk support our organization’s programs and services,” says Karen Deigl, SRA President and CEO. “Last year we had close to 300 participants show their support.”
The Senior Resource Association has been providing activities, education and services to seniors in Indian River County since 1974. Some of its programs and services include Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Services, Senior Center activities and Community Coach Transportation.
