Dr. Steve T. Schulte, 58, Vero Beach

Dr. Steve T. Schulte, 58, died April 14, 2011, at his home.

He was born in St. Petersburg and lived in Durham, N.C., and Vero Beach. He was a disability specialist in the Wake County Public Schools and served as director of Disability Support Services at Wake Technical Community College.

He was an educational research scientist at the Research Triangle Institute in Chapel Hill and worked as an independent educational consultant.

He also was employed by Measurements Inc.

He held a doctorate in special education administration from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Survivors include his father, Henry H. Schulte Jr.; sisters, Daisy LaPoma and Julie Schulte, both of Eugene, Ore., and Margaret Schulte, of Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Henry H. Schulte III, of Columbus, Ohio, and David Schulte of Tampa.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. May 13 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

A luncheon celebrating his life will be afterward in the Village Walk South clubhouse in Vero Beach.
