Theodore Albert Davies Sr., 84, died Tuesday April 26, 2011.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sept. 16, 1926, to Thomas and Esther Davies. He spent his youth in Cincinnati, Ohio, and after recovering from polio, he finished high school at Kentucky Military Institute.
While attending college at Miami of Ohio University, Davies was a four year varsity golf player and captain of the team.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley J. Davies; his children Ted Davies Jr (Roxanne), Joyce Eicher (Stan) and Todd Davies (Julie); grandchildren Lauren, Brooke, Trenton, Tucker, and Tate Davies; Allyssa and Grant Eicher; and step grandchildren Kristin, Brandon, Brittany, and Taryn Cadle.
Davies was hired as a commission sales person by Brown and Bigelow and became one of the top salesmen in the country.
He was transferred to Minnesota in 1961 as the vice president of the National Accounts Program.
He started his own sales promotion company, Sales Marketing Inc. (SMI) in 1968.
He built SMI from a one person company to one of the top sales promotions agencies in the industry, with six offices across the country.
More importantly, his clients, suppliers, and employees respected and trusted him.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 3 at Community Church, 1901 23rd Street Vero Beach, Florida 32960.
