FELLSMERE – Children are the purpose behind a celebration planned later this week at Operation Hope.
With Mother’s Day coming up and Father’s Day not far behind, Operation Hope’s leadership wanted to come up with a day children could all their own.
That day will be Saturday, April 30 – Children’s Day.
Children ages 1 to 10 will receive a free gift, all while playing games, getting their faces painted, and hunting eggs.
The event is co-sponsored with NASA and Alpizar Law and will feature displays from Indian River County Fire Rescue.
The Fellsmere City Council unanimously approved the special event permit Operation Hope needed for the event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
While the event is meant to celebrate children, Operation Hope organizers said they want to highlight and promote its daycare program as well.

Operation Hope is located at 12285 County Road 512, Fellsmere.
