Mary Thomas Peterson, 91, died March 28, 2011, at Palm Gardens of Vero Beach.
She was born in Americus, Ga., and lived in Indian River County for 55 years.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as mother of the church and an elder.
Survivors include her son, Noriga Thompson, of Tampa; brother, Arthur Thomas, of Wabasso; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allison “Jack” Peterson.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and a service will begin at 11 a.m. April 8, at St. Matthew’s Missionary Baptist Church in Wabasso.
Burial will follow in Wabasso Cemetery.
