Juanita Winifred “Nita” McKnight, 86, died April 4, 2011, at Palm Garden of Vero Beach.
She was born in Lady Lake and lived in Vero Beach until 1942.
She returned to Vero Beach in 1962 and lived there for 49 years.
She was a graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1942.
She worked as a teacher’s aide at Rosewood Elementary School.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
She was a member of the Indian River County Historical Society.
Survivors include her sons, Russell McKnight, of Aiken, S.C., and Patrick McKnight, of Pasadena, Calif.; daughter, Sandra Johnson, of Sarasota; sisters, Mary Knight, of Vero Beach and Virgie Morales, of Sebring; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. L. “Pete” McKnight; and sister, Nellie Mordenti.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, 51 Children’s Way, Enterprise, FL 32725.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. April 18 at First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach, with the Rev. Charles C. Lever officiating.
Interment will be in the Memorial Garden at First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
