I’m going to be honest. It’s been a while – well, since the last blog entry – that I last worked out. I’ve been walking laps around my neighborhood because I just haven’t been motivated to turn on the Wii.
So I decided Wednesday that I was going to jump back on – kick butts and take names. (insert warrior scream here)
But I didn’t want to go all out – hey, it’s been a while since I’ve had the e-trainer in my face. So I chose a 16-minute “light” lower-body workout.
I figured I could handle a few squats, squats with leg lifts, hip lifts, and whatever else the program would throw my way.
Half-way through the first cycle I was panting up a storm and sweating. By the start of the second cycle (of two) my face had turned five shades of red and my heart felt like it was going to bang its way out of my rib cage.
I took a breather. I paused the game – sipped some water.
I finished the routine – barely.
With the warm-up and cool down, the grand tally was 30 minutes.
Even with a continued cool down, it took me more than an hour before my legs stopped shaking.
There’s nothing like taking some time off from working out to take on a “light” 16-minute workout to remind me that I’m not in as good a shape as I thought. Hmm.
