Local dog behavior expert joins Humane Society

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) is pleased to announce that Cecelia “Cissy” Sumner will be joining the shelter as a consulting dog behavior counselor and dog trainer.

“The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is delighted to have Cissy onboard. She’s certain to be an excellent addition to our animal behavior team,” HSVB & IRC Executive Director Chalmers Morse said.

“Cissy brings a wealth of knowledge to our organization that’s certain to help our community’s dogs and their families,” he added.

Sumner will be starting with the shelter in April, where she’ll be teaching both “Introduction to K9 Nose work” and “Pet Dog Manners and Behavior.”

Sumner’s classes will complement training programs currently offered by the shelter’s Senior Dog Trainer and Behavior Counselor Connie Ellis.
