Lowell E. “Mike” Smith, 94, died March 7, 2011.
He was born in Onward, Ind., and lived 89 years in Vero Beach, before moving to Okeechobee.
He served in World War II in the Marines.
Before retiring he was co-owner of Glenn and Mike’s Landscaping in Vero Beach for more than 40 years.
He served as head of the Power Squadron, and helped to organize the Boat Club and was a member of the Elks Club.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Griggs, Margaret Ann Wyrick, Marsha Salmon and Agnes Simon; sisters, Ruth DeVaughn, Georganna Sweatt and Pat Smith; brother, Hugh; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Edward; siblings, Glenn, Si, Francis Aulick and Betty Grant.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. March 26 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.
