Claude C. “Bud” Kleckner, 88, died March 17, 2011, at Indian River Estates, Vero Beach.
He was born in Allentown, Pa., served in the Army Signal Corps on Okinawa in World War II and attended Lehigh University graduating in 1948.
His 36 year career with AT&T took him from climbing poles in the field to representing the corporation on international data standards committees.
After retirement in 1983, he and his wife Eleanor moved to Vero Beach and became active in the Pelican Island Audubon Society.
He served on the Indian River County Planning and Zoning Commission and was editor of the Conservation Committee of Indian River County’s newsletter.
Following Eleanor’s passing in 1993, Bud traveled the world from the Arctic to the Antarctic and tallied a North American bird list in excess of 700 species.
Survivors include his son Bob who lives in Lewiston, Maine, with his wife Nancy.
Per Bud’s request, no memorial service will be held.
