William Roger “Whitey” Eckhardt, 82, died March 16, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Oak Park, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach for 30 years, coming from Ft. Lauderdale.
Eckhardt was a pilot and aircraft entrepreneur.
He was the longest running Key Man for the Vero Beach Chapter of the Quiet Birdmen.
Survivors include his sons, Bill Eckhardt, of Sunrise and Chris Eckhardt, of Plantation; daughters, Karen Womeldurf, of Friendswood, Texas and Susan Eckhardt Czagas, of Melbourne; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory Vero Beach.
