Sebastian council to consider improving ‘Presidential’ streets

SEBASTIAN – The Sebastian City Council is expected to discuss and approve moving forward with plans to improve some of the “Presidential” streets in the city’s redevelopment area.

Current design plans under consideration include Washington, Martin and Cleveland streets with options to provide parallel parking, angled parking, or a combination. Also to be discussed is the option to make Washington and Cleveland one-way only.

According to preliminary sketches by engineer firm Neel-Schaffer, converting the road to one-way traffic could increase the number of parking spots the city could have.

Martin is expected to maintain its two-way traffic due to its residential nature, according to city records.

Coolidge Street is not expected to be included in the project as it is tied to future plans for the boat trailer parking located on the north side of Riverview Park between the Hess gas station and the river.
