J. Leroy Pressley, 85, died March 14, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born in Piedmont, S.C., and lived in Vero Beach for 50 years, coming from Bradley.
He was part of a family cattle operation and taught school in Mulberry for nine years.
In 1961, he moved to Indian River County, where he and his wife owned and operated a family cattle business.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He graduated from Florida Southern College.
He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association and Farm Bureau.
He attended Kings Baptist Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Iris D. Pressley, of Vero Beach; sons, Gary L. Pressley and Michael H. Pressley, both of Vero Beach; daughter, Shirley P. Pollard, of Vero Beach; sister, Betty P. Leverette, of Simpsonville, S.C.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by a sister, Geneva P. Cole.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kings Baptist Church Building Fund, 3235 58th St., Vero Beach, FL 32966.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. March 16 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. March 17 at Kings Baptist Church in Vero Beach.
Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
