Inaugural Chinese Auction at Hibiscus Festival

VERO BEACH — Looking for a facial rejuvenation, lunch cruise, a summer camp for your children, family portrait or fine art, theatre tickets, day at a spa, dinner certificates, or a getaway to a luxurious hotel?  Look no further than the Hibiscus Festival Chinese Auction, inside the Heritage Center from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Festival day, Saturday, April 15. The inaugural Chinese Auction, sponsored by Barker Air-Conditioning, will offer  tables filled with goods and service items donated by local businesses for all to bid on.

For those not in the know, a Chinese Auction is a combination of a raffle and an auction; bidders buy tickets which are chances to win items. Bidders buy as many $1 tickets as they like and bid them on any item(s) they desire by placing one or more ticket in the cup beside the item(s). At the conclusion of bidding, one winning ticket is drawn from the cup for each item, and the item is given to the owner of that ticket.

Admission to the Chinese Auction is $2 but, upon paying your fee, you will receive $3 worth of tickets.  The auction offers 125 items to bid on with a total value exceeding $17,000.  All bid tickets are valued at $1 each.

Buy as many tickets you wish; the more tickets you place into each item’s cup, the better opportunity you have of winning.

Bidding ends at 2:30 p.m., and tickets will then be drawn.  Return at 3:30 p.m. to claim your winning item(s).

In-Kind sponsors with items valued at $500 or more are Flight Safety Academy, Dr. Pierone/Facial Rejuvenation, Barkley Interior Design, Longevity Fitness, Ocean Oaks Dental Group, Lions Club of Vero Beach Photographic Associates-John Eisinger and Yoga Pagoda of Vero.

Other donors of $250 and over include: City Recreation Department, Costa d’Este Beach Resort, Dogs for Life, Indian River Mall, Natural Beauty/Holly Mercuri, Rose Spytek, Shells & Things, Southern.Eagle Distributing, St. Edward’s School, Tropic Art & Frame, Vatland Honda, Artist Lee Smith, Rennick Arts and Antiques and Vero Beach Country Club.
