Edward John Motyka, 81, Vero Beach

Edward John Motyka, 81, died March 9, 2011, in Vero Beach.

He was born in Webster, Mass.

He was a winter resident of Vero Beach since 1995 and a full-time resident since September of 2010, coming from Norwood, Mass.

He studied pharmacy at the New England College of Pharmacy and owned Hartwell Pharmacy in Southbridge, Mass.

He served in the Army.

He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Polish American Social Club of Florida, president of the Polish American Citizens Club in Webster, member of the Grove Isle Golf Club and the TSKK and the chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Webster.

Survivors include his wife, of 15 years, Mary Ann Motyka, of Vero Beach; son, Paul Motyka, of Arizona; daughters, Jane Motyka, of Georgia and Linda Motyka, of Pennsylvania; stepson, David Tamasanis, of Massachusetts; brothers, Stanley Motyka and Peter Motyka, both of Massachusetts; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice; and brothers, Charlie, Walter, Joseph and Tom.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. April 27 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
