Edward John Motyka, 81, of Vero Beach, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 9, 2011, due to a car accident.
Motyka was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Webster, Mass.
He had been a winter resident of Vero Beach since 1995 and a full time resident since September of 2010, coming from Norwood, Mass.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Polish Club, the Grove Isle Golf Club.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Motyka studied pharmacy at Boston University and had owned pharmacies in Massachusetts, including Hartwell Pharmacy in Southbridge, Mass.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Mary Ann Motyka, of Vero Beach; son, Paul Francis Motyka, of Arizona; daughters, Jane Motyka, of Georgia, and Linda, of Pennsylvania; step-son, David Tamasanis, of Massachusetts; brothers, Stanley Motyka and Peter Motyka, both of Massachusetts; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and brothers Charlie, Walter, Joseph and Tom.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church after Easter at a date to be determined.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach, Florida.
